Chest X-ray Image Enhancement By Adaptive Processing

In this work we propose an algorithm for the enhancement of chest X-ray images based on a processing scheme adapted to the local information in the surroundings of each pixel and which uses the knowledge which we have 'a priori' about the contrast presented by the signs indicating pathologies in the non processed images in order to adequately enhance them without signiscantly altering the rest of the information found in the image. preliminary results show the capabilities of this technique as a tool for helping the radiologist in the process of diagnosing fiom roentgenographic patterns.
