We investigate optimal rekeying interval problem in batch rekeying. A Markov model is developed for batch rekeying process. The model is then used to analyze the relationship between the rekeying interval and the batch rekeying process parameters, and a formula of the rekeying interval is presented. Simulation results show that rekeying interval decrease with the increasing rekeying rate; it increase with the increasing requests rate when the number of the batch is small, but decrease when the number of the batch is big; it decrease with the increasing batch when the number of the batch is small, but increase when the number of the batch is big. The efficiency of batch rekeying is improved and the security is enhanced, when the optimal rekeying interval is applied.
