In the past decade digital processing of signals has become widely used for a number of commun i cat i on-re1 a ted appl i cat ions. The flexi bility and precision o ffered by digital techniques has made recovery and enhancement of communication signals p ossible where traditional analog reception was marginal. In recent years, much of the digital technology previously applied to voice bandwidths has been extended to RF use up to 10MHz. Discussed in this paper is one such development, an adaptive digital filter for signal enhancement within an all-digital communications tuner. The filter is useful for suppression of additive interference and equalization. Adaptation of parameters can be determined by a number of algorithms, but its most useful mode involves the Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA). This paper summarizes the development and the a lgorithmic tailoring for use at RF bandwidths.
