Kurt Gödel and Alan Turing are perennially fascinating figures. They left an indelible mark on modern thinking by demonstrating previously unsuspected limits to mathematics. But their difficulties with conventional social interaction eventually brought their lives to tragic and enigmatic ends. Small wonder that both have attracted writers intrigued by the combination of intellectual achievement at a level most of us can only dream of and personal drama of equally high order.
