Dynamic motion compensated video coding
Q.X. Jian, Hong Ren Wu · 2002
The performance of the dynamic motion compensation (DMC) for video compression is evaluated using test sequences, in comparison with what is recommended in the MPEG coding algorithm. The DMC method is introduced to minimize the redundancy in motion vectors of block matching motion compensation. The DMC can be divided into two categories: spatial dynamic motion compensation (SDMC) and temporal dynamic motion compensation (TDMC). The spatial dynamic compensation algorithms are described. A very efficient modified full search algorithm for blocking matching motion compensation is then presented. The run-length and variable length coding (VLC) are applied to code dynamic motion information to further the reduction of the side information required for the coding. The effectiveness of these algorithms is examined and evaluated.>
