Power control for CDMA data communication systems

Lidong Zhu, Shiqi Wu · 2003

A distributed power control strategy for CDMA data communication systems is proposed. The data rates of terminals are variable; all terminals adjust their transmitting power to maximize their net utility. A terminal increases its transmitting power to get a desired signal-to-interference ratio, and it pays for this action. Different pricing factors affect the system performance; effects on system performance due to an adaptive price function and a near-far fair price function are analyzed. Simulation results indicate that power control with a price function can improve a terminal's net utility and reduce transmitting power, which is better than power control without a price function.
