Communication And Errors In Single Switch Controlled Auto-scanning Communication Aids

Single switch controlled auto scanning computer aids are usually used to enhance communication in non-vocal paralyzed individuals. In this paper, communication rates and three types of errors are defined and quantified for various types of matrix based communication systems. The results suggest that nonlinear scanning and a row wide cursor are beneficial.
