The objective of the SEAS DTC project ’ultra-compact intelligent electrical networks ’ is to develop a novel intelligent electrical network suitable for application in uninhabited air vehicles, having multiple loads and generation sources with the ability to effectively re-route power during faulted conditions. This paper presents the issues that need to be addressed for implementing such a system, including the system architecture, the loads, the generation sources, replication of the prime movers and the monitoring and protection schemes, together with the progress to-date and the challenges which lay ahead. Keywords: Electrical networks, UAVs.
