Abstract. The purpose of this paper is to propose a web service oriented ap-proach of integrating applications for both Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and Business-to-Business (B2B) application integration. For this pur-pose, four service-oriented integration approaches for both EAI and B2B are described in terms of private and shared public web service registries, synchro-nous and asynchronous interaction protocols, and vertical extensible markup languages. As a case study, one of the integration approaches for EAI and B2B, which can be implemented by using the current available web services plat-forms, is applied to a Supply Chain Management example in retail business. The empirical results show that the service-oriented application integration is seamless whether it is done within an organization or across organizations since the web services can be employed for implementing business logics regardless of integration types such as EAI and B2B. 1
