Performance Study Of A Multibeam Satellite System With On-board Storage And Processing

E.W. Soueid · 2005

A satellite system with multiple uplinks and downlinks and on-board storage and processing is considered. The satellite makes use of a multibeam antenna for independently scanning different zones in a large service region. A new technique using a queueing theory analytic model has been developed to analyze satellite performance. Analysis showed that high throughputs may be obtained for a wide range of traffic loads. A method for optimally, dividing the service region into several zones is then suggested. Finally, statistics on some key satellite parameters are collected using a SLAM simulation model.
