The Functional Brain States Band Model And The Dynamics ofF Sensory- Cognitive Evoked Potentials

The band model of functional brain states during sensory and cognitive tasks is proposed as a new tool for studying and diagnostic of central nervous system in humans. The dynamics of brain processes is assessed by estimation of state transitions and response matrix derived from phase features of field potentials recorded from intact scalp. The author hypothesizes that the probabilities of transitions between state bands can be interpreted in physiological terms related to state of consciousness, arousallevel and attention.The adequacy of proposed rep resentation of brain states by phase features of EEG and ERP is verified experimentally.
