The HP/UWE GA extended placement degree
M. Burcham · 2003
A new student sponsorship is under trial at UWE, Bristol. It has been jointly designed by the Computer Systems School at UWE and the Systems Support Group at HP. Although firmly based on a well established degree (BSc Computing for Real-Time Systems) it incorporates a number of distinctive features. Hewlett Packard has also established a Modern Apprentice scheme in parallel to the Graduate Apprenticeships. Because of this, students can now reduce their debt burden, employers obtain more benefit from their investment in placement students and the university develops a useful relationship with an active industrial partner.
