Remote Synchronization Using Windows LAN Tools

Matheus C. Carvalho · 2016

It is not necessary to have Internet connection in order that computers can synchronize which each other, it is enough that the computers are connected to a local area network (LAN). It is possible to use the network tools part of the Windows operating system to connect computers to a LAN. This chapter explores how this can be done so that one can synchronize the software being controlled by different computers. The hardware necessary to create a LAN can be very simple and inexpensive. Command prompt is one of the easiest ways to find the Internet Protocol (IP) address of a computer, by means of the ipconfig command. IP is a number that identifies a computer in a network. The standard configuration on Windows is that this number is automatically generated. The shared folder will contain a file that will be used to exchange text between the two computers.
