Listing and Exploring Data

Robert L. Miller, Ciaran Acton, Deirdre A. Fullerton, John Maltby, Jo Campling · 2002

The process of data analysis should always begin with a close examination of the data you are working with. This is an important prerequisite to formal statistical testing and in this module we are going to examine some of the more common ways of exploring and summarising data. We have already looked at the SPSS menu system and identified the main features of each of the ten drop-down menus. The procedures we are going to focus on in this chapter can be accessed through either the A nalyze or the G raphs menu. However, before we proceed to the practical application of SPSS we need to consider some important conceptual issues. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
