Towards Multi‐Operator IPTV Services Over 5G Networks

This chapter presents important challenges, opportunities and operational, business- and customer-centric aspects of single- and multi-operator Internet Protocol television (IPTV) services in 5G networks. It provides an example that suggests ways of enabling end-user interaction needed to align the customer's expectations with what is offered. The IPTV emerging trends, unmet market needs and unresolved business issues motivate the authors' research on new innovative 5G architecture, service provisioning and business models, also in the context of the 5G PPP project 5GEx. Assessing and enhancing existing, as well as defining new service-level agreement (SLA) frameworks, trading mechanisms and pricing policies as well as schemes also comprise additional research directions. This is to be combined with new ways of realising a common monitoring capability and management of requested QoS attributes, as well as charging and billing models that can maximise the return of every actor in the 5G multi-operator service provisioning scenario.
