Selami Bağrıyanık, Dilek Karahoca · 2014

800x600 System analysts have some important challenges from elicitation of the requirements with the business stakeholders till the delivery of the technical requirements to development teams. This study investigates the issues experienced by analysts and their functionality and usability expectations from the requirements engineering tools in the context of a large scale telecommunications company. Study is a case study which is arranged in an interdisciplinary manner based on human computer interaction and anthrodesign principles. Thematic Analysis, Persona and Prototyping technics are used for the discovery of the system analysis difficulties and analysts’ perception and expectations regarding the tools they use. We exhibit the results and recommendations that will serve for the new tools development and tool designers. Further research will be conducted on the learning aspects of analyst tools using instructional design and gamification practices together since one of the important new finding of this research is that the tool can also be an effective learning platform for its users. The objective of the future study will be designing a prototype system for the analysts which supports, and catalyzes business learning while doing their daily tasks.
