The research of metadata about changjiang river field scientific observation data

The Changjiang River is China's mother river, but in the recent years many severe water problems caused serious threat to social and economic environment. In order to grasp the water environment situation of the Changjiang River, the Changjiang River scientific research institute start the plan of field observation in the Changjiang River basin. However recently in China, we can not find metadata standards or specifications for reference about basin field observation, which will cause certain obstacles to the sharing of data. Based on this situation, this paper focus on setting a basin field observation data standard to describe the observation data. Observation items covered hydrology, meteorology, aquatic organisms. As the first level of classification, this paper divided metadata into the following categories: natural geography, water environment, water ecology, water conservancy project and social economy. We established the basin field observation metadata model framework based on the analysis of observation results data. Based on the above theory, we build the field observation data sharing platform in Changjiang River basin, with the guide of metadata framework in this paper, we completed the field observation records sharing and distribution.
