Confrontation of an Aspect-Oriented solution with an Object-Oriented solution, a case study on caching

Jeroen Boydens, Eric Steegmans · Lirias · 2006

This paper focuses on the fact that a developer should not be concerned whether his application will be distributed or not. Because the current remoting infrastructures use serialisation to pass parameters, synchronisation problems exist. We will elaborate on a transparent framework to pass mutable objects to remote operations, in the same way as they are passed to local operations. A number of solutions will be proposed to provide this transparency. Finally, a solution based on a caching mechanism will be implemented using annotations.
