Preprocessing and cross border traffic

Cross border trac is studied to determine the eect of a preprocessing on wait times and trac ow. Since it is desirable to minimize wait times at border crossings, preprocessing at another location may reduce the wait at the border but may incur other costs. Analytical work is presented and a simulation study obtains some graphical and numerical results. Mathematics Subject Classication: 90B22
