Development of a tool to calculate object oriented software metrics on Java programs

Diamante, Luciana Puntillo · ProQuest Demo Repository

Software metrics have been developed and studied for several years. The idea behind these metrics is to measure software quality and complexity, and based on their results to improve software development. This project implements a tool that parses computer programs written in the Java language and evaluates several software metrics from them. This tool, called the Super Counter, calculates both object-oriented and non-object-oriented specific metrics. The input for the tool can be one or more Java programs belonging to the same or different packages. The Super Counter output consists of some general information about the program (number of comments, number of keywords, etc.) as well as more complex metrics: Halstead, McCabe, Chidamber and Kemerer.
