This research proposes MTAS, a prototype for motorcycle theft detection using QR code for Phuket Rajabhat University (PKRU) where the motorcycle theft has arisen sporadically. The MTAS for motorcycle theft detection using QR code is based on Java intended for a smartphone with android operating system. The QR Code is generated from a combination of identifiable pieces of student information. A combination of password authentication and `parked' and `unparked' conditions was a driving mechanism of the MTAS. A complete implementation requires three stakeholders: 1) System Administrator, who is responsible for generating the QR Code for students; 2) Students, who take motorcycles in and out of parking lots; and 3) Security guards, who inspect motorcycle taken out of the university. We discovered that the application work quite effectively at some certain level despite some significant limitations of QR Code technologies.
