Weighted Control Flow Subgraph to Support Debugging Activities

Most existing fault localization techniques just focus on selecting subsets of potentially faulty statements and ranking them according to some criterion. Even in cases where a fault involves a single statement, it is generally hard to understand the fault and correct it by looking at that statement in isolation. To address this issue, as well as assist debugger comprehension, we introduce a program weighted control flow subgraph for suspiciousness basic block to support debugging activities, which includes weighted information of blocks and control transfers, which inform the suspiciousness for program failures. Our approach provides debuggers a control flow context that is likely to result in a more directed approach to bug understanding and a lower overall cost for debugging.
