A buffer management scheme to control packet loss in MANET

A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a gathering of wireless nodes communicating with each other in the absence of any immovable infrastructure. The study of MANETs is a developing area of research. Efforts have been made for achieving efficient broadcasting in MANETs. As an example, several routing protocols such as, Dynamic Source Routing (DSR), Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV), Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP), and Location Aided Routing (LAR,) are designed to transfer packet from source to destination but by these protocols, packet loss ratio was measured high. Several routing algorithms are also designed to transfer packets but by those algorithms too, packet loss ratio was high. In this paper, I am proposing a new scheme of buffer management for controlling packet loss in mobile ad hoc network (MANET), according to which, we setup a main buffer between sender and receiver. Around that main buffer several nodes are arranged so that when packets are sent from the sender they will reach the nodes first and then one by one be sent to the main buffer and from that main buffer will be sent to the receiver. For this buffer management scheme, I have applied RED (Random Early Discard) algorithm on TCP.
