A growing number of Data center administrators are finding ways to detect hotspots in data center in order to reduce the power consumption. Wireless sensor networks can be used for this purpose, but transmission of data in Wireless Sensor Networks is the chief consumer of their battery power. In this paper, we have demonstrated the inefficacy of the standard algorithm used for data transmission. We have proposed two new better efficient algorithms SPWG and SPG, compared and contrasted them on an experimental setup where sensor nodes are attached to the various processors in a data center. We could able to receive successful detection of hotspots and verified that SPG outperforms the other two in terms of transmission efficiency.
