Mobile ad-hoc Networks are infrastructure less networks which can be deployed quickly, hence are used in many applications like disaster recovery, military etc., Routing is the key issue in Mobile ad-hoc networks which establishes best route to forward the data. One of the most popularly used routing protocol in ad-hoc networks is AODV. This protocol is vulnerable to black hole attack which results in decreased throughput of the network. In this paper we propose a secure version of the AODV protocol. The proposed protocol ensures authentication of each node during route discovery which prevents black hole attack. Hence by preventing black hole node from being part of the network we can maximize the network throughput. Also the protocol is able to prevent black hole attack in single round of route establishment with minimum computation overhead.
