Adaptive MD-FEC over multilink video distribution network

Multiple description coding has been shown to provide flexible and distortion-rate optimal video streaming transmission over lossy links. In this paper, we provide an adaptive MD-FEC algorithm for point-to-multipoint video streaming that approximately minimizes the average distortion of the multicast video. Our new algorithm accomplishes this by adapting both the packet lengths and their number to fit heterogeneous link conditions.
