Absrract. This paper describes a novel method for the reclamation of quanied limestone rock slopes by 'Landform Replication' which aims 10 construct a landform/vegetation assemblage which resembles in lhe unexcavated landscape around the quarry. The first stage of technique involves Restoration Blasting, the application of dnlling and blasting designs which aim to construct a suite of landforms which replicate the outward form of those on natural slopes and which can be predicted to evolve through the operation of natural processes. The second phase is 'Habitat Reconsu•nction', which is the application of ecological techniques tu establish semi-natural vegetation communities. The technique has been developed in the White Peale of Derbyshire, England, where the limestone outcrop is dissected by valleys (dales) in which the dorni1m111 landform assemblage consists of bare and vegetated scree buttresses and headwalls. The vegetation includes various mr,nr>•"r'"' of grassland/wildflower and woodland community types.res,em:ch programme aimed to construct landform/vegetation n.na",,0 which visually resemble and function in a similar way semi-natural counterpart.
