Research on Adaptive Transmission Mechanism of Video Data

Since complex network environment makes the video data with network resources change quickly, video transmission must possess the ability to adapt to the change of network status. After studying the video stream congestion question as well as the network adaptive transmission control and the transmission characteristic of RTP (Real-time Transport Protocol) RTCP (Real-time Transport Control Protocol), a kind of network adaptive transmission control strategy based on the bandwidth is proposed in the paper. In order to monitor network status more accurately, a method based on the combination of various parameters and AIMD (Additive Increase Multiplicative Decrease) algorithm for video transmission rate adjustment are adopted in the strategy. According to the network resource condition, the strategy is able to adjust transmission speed dynamically to match the network bandwidth change and realize network adaptive transmission.
