Towards Secure Localized Certificate Revocation in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

Mohammad Masdari · IETE Technical Review · 2016

Voting-based certificate revocation is an effective revocation method which is conducted by the collaboration of network nodes. In this paper, we focus on improving the localized certificate revocation scheme proposed by Arboit et al. for mobile ad-hoc networks. This scheme is a voting-based revocation method able to operate in the absence of any certificate authority. But it is vulnerable to false accusation problem which degrades the performance of revocation system and makes the revocation more difficult. Our main objective in this paper is to provide a reliable revocation method which is resilient against the multiple collaborative and non-collaborative false accusers. Simulation results demonstrate that our solution reduces the number of accusations required to reliably revoke a certificate.
