A model-driven approach for model transformations

With the increase of the complexity and scale of the requirements of model transformations and the diversity of the transformation technologies, it is necessary to apply model-driven architecture to develop model transformations since they are software. This paper presents a model-driven approach for model transformations. In the paper, we analyze the characteristics of model transformations, explore the realization mechanism of the approach with a graphical model transformation modeling language, development processes applicable to the language, and the transformation support facilities, and present some main research challenges, together with some possible solutions.
