An electronic load to verify harmonic emission compliance

The IEC draft technical report 61000-4-37 describes methods to verify that compliance systems to measure IEC 61000-3-2, work within their specified tolerances. The waveforms required for these tests have a rich harmonic content. The paper describes a technique to produce these harmonics using a programmable microcontroller controlling an insulated-gate bipolar transistor. The initial results are shown and the required developments to fully match 61000-4-37 are explained.
