Finding Similar Classes in Ontologies

Himanshi Yaduwanshi, Vijaya Padmadas · 2016

Ontologies are basically termed as specification of conceptualization. Mapping is one of the sought about operations in ontologies. The approach used here is for a quick classification of similarities and dissimilarities of the classes based on their properties, super classes, subclasses, and comments associated with them. This classification helps to map the similarities between two different ontologies. As the heterogeneity of web resources has increased the need to have a common understanding of these resources is getting prevalent. Heterogeneity has caused major issues in interoperability and cross-platform communication. There is no unified approach to write ontologies. Ontology being the description of conceptualization is a trusted resource to overcome this issue Ontology mapping is very much sought after field in area of semantic web. Mapping highlights the commonness of various ontologies which is prerequisite for various other operations on ontologies. The approach used in this paper is focused on finding similar classes to map the ontologies according to different criteria.
