This chapter reviews the main theoretical achievements, suggestions on several issues, and a forecast of future trends in radar data processing techniques. A comparative analysis is made of the tracking accuracy and computational load of some linear and nonlinear filtering algorithms with the same target in the same simulation environment. Track initiation techniques can be conveniently divided into two general categories. One is target-oriented sequential processing techniques, including the logic-based and modified logic-based methods. The other category is batch processing techniques, including the HT and MHT methods. The radar data processing technology has been widely applied in both military and civil fields, but data processing algorithms are usually very simple and need approximation to different degrees. Research topics in this respect include the following issues for engineering implementations: real-time data transmission with high speed and large volume, systematic calculations with high speed and efficiency, and task assignment and synchronous control in parallel processing.
