In this paper, we propose a network-aware adaptive streaming scheme for improving the video quality. The adaptation of video streaming contents according to the network status is essential to supporting media applications. The proposed scheme controls the quality of video contents according to variations in the network status including the available bandwidth, the network delay, the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI), and the buffer status of a client device. Through implementation results, we show that the proposed scheme adaptively controls the quality of video content in a wireless networks.
