Key pre-distribution schemes for wireless sensor networks

Sensor networks pose security and privacy challenges when deployed for various distributed control and monitoring applications. Encrypting sensor communications is required especially in a hostile environment. The challenge is how to bootstrap secure communications among sensors. Compared to some general key management schemes, key pre-distribution scheme is a promising one. We investigated some existing key pre-distribution schemes, proposed a framework of these schemes and defined some metrics useful for design and evaluation of these schemes for wireless sensor networks.
