Malware propagation is a serious threat in wireless networks. We investigate a defense strategy based on optimal control that quarantines the malware by reducing the communication range of mobile nodes. We further characterize how such a solution affects performance of a wireless network through simulations. This will lead to a better understanding and prediction of defense protocols that would reduce the speed of malware propagation within wireless networks.
