Iamc framework: design and prototyping

Weidong Liao, Paul S. Wang · 2003

Internet Accessible Mathematical Computation (IAMC) is a research field to supply mathematical contents and mathematical computation powers over the Internet/Web. The IAMC Framework is a distributed framework that includes protocols, interface specifications, customizable prototypes and libraries to facilitate the deployment of new and existing mathematical packages over the Internet; not only for downloading, but for connecting and using programmatically or interactively. The long-term goal for the IAMC framework is to become part of an infrastructure for providing mathematical computational and educational services over the Internet/Web. The initial version of protocol and interface specification for the IAMC framework have been made available. Experiments show that the IAMC framework is a feasible solution for developing Internet/Web based computational and educational systems and environments. The IAMC framework prototypes, which include the IAMC client prototype ( Dragonfly) and the IAMC server prototype (Starfish), were demonstrated in IAMC Workshop 2003.
