Analysis of Rotated Booklets
Fernando Cartwright · 2015
Suggests that test designs using rotated booklets allow testing of a large number of items by grouping items into different test booklets, with students administered tests using different booklets, so that no individual student tests all of the items. Other than the initial analysis specifications, the remainder of the workflow follows the same procedures described in previous walk-throughs (loading data, analysis specifications, and item analysis results). If the test administration uses multiple test booklets containing different sets of items, the Item and Test Analysis (IATA) can perform the dimensional analysis only if the different booklets share a sufficient number of items. For a complex rotation, the general principle for successful design remains to ensure that no test items appear only in a single booklet. As the number of booklets in which an item appears increases, the accuracy of the parameter estimates for that item will also increase.
