Circuits Implementing Triangular QV Cycles

Philippe Basset, Elena Blokhina, Dimitri Galayko · 2016

This chapter discusses the circuits which implement triangular QV cycles, like the constant voltage QV cycle. These circuits use active circuits synchronizing the charge flow of the transducers. The chapter provides some basic notions about the energy transfer in the capacitive circuits. It also discusses the circuits implementing constant-voltage and constant charge cycles. The energy converted from the mechanical domain is used to regenerate the charges on reservoir capacitor. Depending on the needs of the circuit operation, this allows a compensation of the energy consumed by the load or by the leakage, as well as a voltage increase in the reservoir capacitor. The particularity of the conditioning circuits implementing triangular QV cycles is the need of an active external synchronization of the charge flow on the transducer with the motion of the transducer mobile electrode.
