A Heuristic Approach to Early Human Factors Evaluation

Michael Goom, Stephen Wells · Journal of Blindness Innovation and Research · 2004

Tools which produce results too late to affect anything are a waste of time and money. There is a need for tools which give early answers. These tools may be approximate and may not catch all the issues. However, if they can be used early enough, then they are of value. This paper takes a lead from a practical approach proposed by Jakob Nielsen and proposes a way to derive heuristics to aid early evaluation. A case study based on an Office Workspace is presented to illustrate the approach.
