Try the splinter frequencies

Jacob Campbell · Pipeline Gas J.; (United States) · 1976

Under the right set of conditions, splinter frequencies (those with bandwidths too narrow for voice communication work) may offer an economical and convenient solution to problems of monitoring pipeline equipment by radio. Splinter frequencies are readily available and operate with commercially available radio equipment that is relatively inexpensive and small in size and does not require a large or complex antenna system. For slow-speed data gathering such as alarm monitoring of a remote compressor station, remotely controlling a small production facility, or acquiring data from a gathering system, splinters may offer the lowest installed cost. Restrictions placed by the Federal Communications Commission on the use of splinters limit the transmitter power output to 50 watts for a fixed station and 1 watt for a mobile one and limit the area that the signal will reach, thus permitting fuller utilization of the frequencies within a geographical area. Preliminary requests for a freque are equipped with start/stop unit panels that perform all functions related to bringing a unit on line and into operation. The survey also focused on the experience of compressoe interface, whe blood so that the no-response level in children seems to be lower than 10 ..mu..g/100 ml of Pb-B.
