Face‐to‐Face Asks: Cornerstone of Fundraising Success

Scott C. Stevenson · 2013

Face-to-face solicitation is by far the most effective way to raise needed funds. The most successful fundraisers are passionate about the cause for which they are raising funds. Planning and preparation are key elements to a successful major gift solicitation. In addition to writing up a trip or call report after each solicitation, take the time to make some personal notes. List what went right during the call. Then write down what went wrong. After you have formally solicited a prospect for a specific amount, remain silent until the prospect has fully responded.
