A routing algorithm for Network-on-Chip with self-similar traffic
Wei Ni, Zhenwei Liu · 2015
To solve the problems of network centric congestion and increased network delay in Network-on-Chip caused by network traffic with self-similar characteristics, a routing algorithm is introduced based on the buffering information and center distance: Distance Prediction XY (DPXY) routing algorithm. A simulation platform are built with SystemC to verify DPXY routing algorithm and compare it with other routing algorithms, e.g. XY, WestFirst, and OddEven. The results show that DPXY routing algorithm can effectively avoid centric congestion, reduce latency and improve network performance. At last, a H.264 decoder algorithm is mapped on a NoC simulation platform featuring DPXY routing algorithm, the decoding performance increases 13.46% compared with XY routing algorithm.
