Why and When to Apply CSR Activities

This chapter discusses some of the external challenges and internal needs that corporations must consider before implementing any CSR activity in order to survive in the global competition. External challenges include corporate capitalism and corporate capitalism, whereas internal needs are related to satisfying spiritual values of the employees. The implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) requires companies to identify programs or the activities that can give direct benefits to both the company and the community. This chapter highlights the role that CSR can play in the micro-economy development, which also includes creation of employment and wealth, care for the community and the environment, and the importance of education or capacity building. This chapter also provides some practical advice in implementing CSR, as careful consideration is required before starting any CSR activity.
