Secondly, deformation is influenced by many uncertain factors. The relationship between these factors and deformation is difficult to describe. A certain function is adopted to express the connections between the parameters in the traditional time series analysis. Since the geological conditions and geotechnical characteristics parameters in geotechnical engineering are always random, fuzzy, and partial quantitative, it is hard to use a deterministic math model to describe the relation, meanwhile, it is usually very hard to identify the parameters of this math model.
