Vertical Service Discovery and Analysis: Pursuing Inward and Downward Road Map Patterns
Michael Mayerfeld Bell · 2012
It is time to start crafting a plan, a strategy that consists of a systematic service analysis and discovery process that focuses on a service's internal affairs, its internal structure, and type of offerings. The mission is to understand how business and technical imperatives drive an individual service's functionality and its capabilities. Thus it is important to study business requirements and understand technical specifications. These rudimentary analyses typically yield new services and contribute to existing service implementations. This chapter describes two distinct patterns that are adopted under the vertical method in order to aforesaid goals. These patterns are: (a) Inward and (b) Downward discovery and analysis patterns.
