This chapter provides an overview of the various developments in trustworthy systems with special emphasis on secure systems, including secure data systems. The organization of this chapter is as follows. In Section 7.2, we discuss secure systems in some detail. Section 7.3 provides an overview of dependable systems, which include coverage of trust, privacy, integrity, data quality, high-assurance systems, real-time processing, and fault tolerance. In Section 7.4, we discuss Web security in some detail. The chapter is summarized in Section 7.5.
