Baseband Digital Transmission

C.G. Guy · 1992

If a digital signal is to be sent over a communications channel it may be necessary to change how the information is represented, in order to improve the match between the signal and channel transmission characteristics. This could be done by modulating it onto an analog waveform of known bandwidth or by coding the digital signal in some way. If data is transmitted over a channel without modulation the term baseband is used to describe the communications.
