Analog Cellular Radio Signalling

R.C.V. Macario · 1997

Unlike the fixed public telephone network (PSTN), the cellular radio telephone system has customers who ‘roam’ over the network. This is not the same concept as with the cordless telephone, for example, where the customer only moves about the same fixed base station or for that matter, private mobile radio (PMR). The ‘roaming’ attribute means that the customer could be found anywhere within the network, which in the case of several systems can extend over national borders.
