This chapter discusses new technologies on the horizon that are poised to replace existing ones, which are light years more intrusive, such as brain-machine computer interface (BCI) technologies in combination with inference engines designed to predict terrorism plots and other prospective crimes. Such technology adds new meaning to “sinning in one’s heart” wherein even thinking about committing a crime could make one a government target.
